PC System Requirements for Mitsar and HBI software
Here, we want to give a couple of recommendations if you are looking for a computer for your QEEG system.
The developments in the computer industry in the last couple of years led to high-performance computers for very low prices. Nowadays, you can use almost any PC for QEEG / ERP recording and analysis. However, we recommend a couple of upgrades for better performance:
- don't use netbooks (too slow) nor business computers (just expensive). Best choice: good multi-media notebook in the price range EUR / CHF / USD 500-1000
- the graphics adapter should be either ATI or nVidia
- I recommend to use a notebook, not a desktop PC (convenience)
- don't get a notebook with low screen resolution. Most cheap notebooks come with 1280x800 pixels, I recommend at least 1440x900, otherwise all windows overlap all the time and you'll have to scroll a lot. Of course, the optimum screen resolution depends on your eyes. I am near-sighted and prefer high resolutons. My notebook is 1900x1200 ;)
- if you intend to use the notebook mostly stationary, consider a 17" screen. You will not regret it.
- if you have a chance, check for the noise of the built-in fan. Some computers produce quite noticeable noise with can be annoying in a quiet practice room.
The rest is up to your taste: size, weight, battery lifetime, etc.
We are happy to review your computer choice and comment if it is suitable or not.
